Welcome Back!

23 Nov

Oh how I have missed you!  Life went bonkers for a while and I had to put my little blog on the farthest back burner I have!  Let’s see, I lost my job almost a year ago, spent 6 months as a stay home mom during which time I discovered being a stay home mom is NOT for me!  I landed a new amazing job that I LOVE, however I am working full time for the first time since I was pregnant with Little C, and he’s 4 now so that was a big change for our family!  Trying to juggle working 40-50 hours a week, 2 kids in school, homework, chores . . . I ran out of time for myself let alone my little slice of heaven here in blogger land!

Life has settled some and I have months and months of goodies to share!

Here is what has gone on since we last chatted:

ImageLittle C started “school”.  Ok, he started going to daycare 3-4 days a week, but we call it school and he brings a back pack so he can feel like a big boy.

ImageBig A started 3rd grade (sniffle sniffle whimper) and he is doing AMAZING!  I swear that kid is going to be an engineer or something.  ImageLook at his Minecraft game he is making!  He is not allowed to play the actual game (they play it once in a while during free time at school but we won’t allow it at home)  He and a friend decided since neither of them are allowed to play the game, they would make their own! This is a work in progress, but I am so proud of him for being so imaginative!

ImageOur cats learned how to cook, which is great because I just don’t have time anymore!  See?  Gnocchi is tasting his delicious creation!  They like to help with homework too.  Very smart cats.  ImageImageBig A continues to be enamored with Legos.  Look at this incredible Lego train he built with NO instructions!  See?  Engineer for sure.

ImageMy poor Little C spent some time in the hospital a few weeks ago .  He was horribly sick and the doctors just could not figure out what was wrong with him.    They thought it was meningitis, which meant every doctor and nurse to enter his room had to wear a mask.  That was really frightening for Little C!  The worst part of the entire ordeal was having to watch, helplessly as he whimpered in pan,  As a mommy, that broke my heart.  Thankfully, he made a fll recovery and is back to be being his sassy little self again!

Well, that sums it up for now I guess!  I promise it won’t be another 6 months before you hear from me again!

When the Kids are Away . . .

21 Jun

You know the old saying, “when the cats are away, the mice play”.  My kids are out of town camping with the majority of my family, but I had to stay behind for the beginning of the trip because I to work.  While they were away, I decided to have a little fun with some of their favorite toys and make it look like their toys were playing while they were gone!  I took photos documenting all the fun their toys had while they were gone so that when I headed up to meet them I could show them what goes on when they aren’t home.

Don’t be too disappointed by my poor quality photos, Handy Hubby took both my cameras with him (don’t ask me why, he’s a man) so I had to take the photos with my phone, and even though it’s a smart phone, the quality is pretty sad.

First we head to Big A’s room, where a Lego Stormtrooper alarm clock is reading a bedtime story to 2 of Big A’s favorite beanie babies.  Those stormtroopers sure know how to get a turkey to quiet down and go to sleep!

Next we meet Big Big Bear and Spot playing trains, and giving 2 of their little puppy pals rides on the choo choos.  Big Big Bear is even sporting Big A’s favorite engineer’s hat!

Now we head into Little C’s room, where Big Penguin and Giant Dog (my kids are soooo original with their guys names!) Are building block towers . . . and it looks like they even have a message for Little C!  Who knew stuffed animals could spell?

Brobee is selling Muno some delicious pizza.  The pizza is headed to the party in Muno’s tummy!  (if you don’t have children under the age of 3, or have never seen Yo Gabba Gabba, you have no idea what it means to go to a party in your tummy.  You are missing out.)

Since the boys are camping, their Lego mini figures decided to camp out too.  The pirate in the the sunglasses is enjoying roasted marshmallows, The baldy in the back is eating a nice juicy chicken leg, and the lady on the lawn chair is enjoying a good book.

No camping trip is complete without a little lake action!  Baldy is just about to dive in for a swim (notice the flipper?  Legos are soo much more detailed than when I was a kid!)  And Princess Leia has just caught a fish for her supper!

I had a lot of fun playing with my boys’ toys and I know they will enjoy seeing what their toys were up to while they were away!

Legoland Shirts

3 Jun

Hey all!  We just got back from an awesome trip to Legoland!  Big A is celebrating his 7th birthday and loves nothing more than Legos, so we took a family trip to Legoland instead of doing a birthday party this year.  It was a super fun weekend and we now have Legos coming out our ears!  I had to fight the urge to chase all the kids around picking up Legos all day long and just embrace the messy, cluttered fun.

Handy Hubby and I really wanted to make the trip memorable for the boys.  They wear store bought Lego shirts all the time, so I decided to summon the DIY-er in me and make them some cool, one of a kind tshirts for the occasion.

Taking from a past DIY tshirt I bought 2 plain white shirts, drew a Lego figure on them using a permanent marker, and then colored them in with fabric markers.  On the back I wrote “Legoland 2012” to commemorate our trip.  I kept the shirts a secret until the morning of Legoland Day.  The boys were so excited!  We got a ton compliments from park visitors and Legoland employees alike.  Added bonus Big A and Little C will have their awesome shirts to help remind them of the fun we had at Legoland!

Little C is modeling his pirate Lego shirt here with the Lego King.

Big A is modeling his Speed Racer Lego shirt here with what appears to be the Lego version of “Weekend at Bernies”.  Good grief, I hope that Lego man is just a deep sleeper!

And here we have Big A showing off the back of his Lego shirt.  Both shirts have the same design, the Legoland logo.
