TP Pets

4 Jul

It has been mercilessly hot here the past few weeks!  I mean walk-outside-and-tip-over HOT!  The humidity is making it unbearable, so out come the craft supplies!  In the happiness that is my air conditioned house, Big A and I crafted a sweet little bird family out of a favorite recycle bin item of mine: toilet paper tubes.

What you need:

  • 2 toilet paper tubes
  • construction paper in various colors
  • glue
  • scissors
  • paper plate
  • yarn
  • google eyes

For the larger bird, use a tp tube uncut.  Trace it’s shape onto the color paper of your choosing and cut out.  Glue paper onto tp tube.  Cut out wing shapes and fold over on short end to make a tab.  Put a dab of glue on the tab and hold in place a few seconds until the glue adheres to your bird’s body.  Do the same for the beak and google eyes.

For the small bird, cut a tp tube in half and follow instructions above.

For the nest, trace a paper plate onto brown paper and cut out, then glue paper to plate.  Cut out leaf shapes from green paper and glue along the edges of the plate to cover remaining white plate.  Drizzle glue in center of nest and stick yarn every which way.

Big A also cut out a little pink worm for the momma bird’s mouth, and made an egg for her to sit on!
