DIY Chalk Paint

9 Apr

We own a ton of sidewalk chalk.  I mean pastel artists  could shop for supplies in my garage.  But sometimes a new way to do sidewalk chalk is fun, especially during Spring Break when Mom and child alike are going crazy from not being at school/work all week long.

You need cornstarch, water, food coloring and plastic cups.

I needed enough pain for 3 kids and myself, and we have left overs for another day.  It’s 1 cup cornstarch, 1 cup water.  Mix well, making sure you get all the lumps out, then divide into cups.  Add food coloring and stir until you get the desired shade.

I put popsicle sticks in the cups so we could stir occasionally, as the cornstarch settles a little.

The boys had fun painting the driveway, it’s very colorful!  Best part is, it’s totally washable if you get it on your clothes and when it rains, the drawings will come right off the cement just like regular side walk chalk!
